FRAMINGHAM — The Framingham City Council voted unanimously to refer the mayor's nominee for permanent Department of Public Works director, Eric Johnson, to its Appointment Subcommittee, after councilors said the administration never disclosed an earlier interim appointment to the post. Councilor Cannon pressed the mayor on why Steve Leone's appointment as interim director, following the departure of Chief Operating Officer Mike Ticino, was never announced, calling it part of "a pattern now of not sharing things with the public." The mayor called the lapse "an oversight" and said the city's HR director will now send a biweekly email listing all new hires. Separately, the council voted 6-5 to delay installing an all-way stop at Grant and Howard streets, asking traffic officials to try new pavement markings first, and voted 9-2 to approve a left-turn lane fix near Beacon Street.
