Select Board · Meeting of September 3, 2026
FRAMINGHAM — The Framingham City Council voted 6-5 to pass Mayor Sosicki's 2026 municipal reorganization ordinance and separately rejected a proposed correspondence-disclosure rule, 3-8. Councilors also voted 7-4 to send a proposed quarterly executive-session rule back to the Rules Subcommittee after members disputed fixed dates for reviewing litigation, union contracts and city contracts. A Finance Subcommittee plan to add four staff positions at the new Mary Dennison Park, after weighing options from two to ten hires, was continued to a September 15 public hearing.
The council also tabled a proposal to shift affordable-housing rent-increase approvals from itself to the mayor's office, pending research on other cities. During public comment, resident Brian Schneider described ICE stops of construction workers, saying "the policy and procedures are designed to maximize fear and cruelty," while residents Mark Monique and Gail Montague urged opposition to state bills allowing duplexes by right.
