FRAMINGHAM — The Framingham Traffic Commission voted 6-0 Tuesday to hold a public hearing on changing resident-only parking rules in the neighborhood near the commuter rail station, covering Avon, Cedar, Charles, Claflin, Hayes, Highland and Pine streets. Framingham Police Deputy Chief Ruiz asked the commission to limit the current 24-hour, year-round restriction to weekdays, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., saying the existing rule creates an "unintended consequence" that bars residents from having guests over and forces officers to issue parking citations. The commission also approved minutes from its January 27 and July 28 meetings, 6-0.
Department of Public Works representative Matthew Hayes reported the city's Second Street sidewalk project, tied to a Safe Routes to School grant, faces a MassDOT design hearing November 18 at Harmony Grove Elementary School. The City Council separately rejected a commission-backed all-way stop at Howard and Grand streets.
