Traffic Commission · Meeting of August 26, 2026

FRAMINGHAM — The Framingham Traffic Commission voted to study and install speed humps and feedback signs on Winter Street. Members voted 6-0 to direct consultant BETA to design two speed humps, near Long Avenue and Maple Street, and permanent speed feedback signs, after a Fire Department representative said humps on the Winter Street bridge itself would slow emergency apparatus. Department of Public Works representative Matthew Hayes said background data showed an 85th-percentile speed of 41 mph in the road's 35 mph zone, complicating any push to lower the limit.

Resident Frank Cavanaugh said "I'm not comfortable with the 41." The commission also voted 6-0 to install an all-way stop sign at Howard and Grant streets through a free MassDOT crash-reduction program, and 6-0 to ratify a left-turn-lane signage fix at Cochituate Road and Beacon Street.
