FRAMINGHAM — April 3, 2017 — Framingham Planning Board approves revised subdivision rules and regulations in a 3-0 vote. The board, meeting April 3, 2017 with three of its five elected members present, closed the final public hearing on its comprehensive update to the rules governing subdivision of land in Framingham. The updated document introduces 15 standardized forms covering the full application lifecycle, a new in-person intake procedure, and a codified minor-versus-major classification system — subdivisions of four lots or fewer are minor, 10 or more are major, and five to nine fall within board discretion. The board authorized its administrator to complete citation verification, renumbering, and table-of-contents page numbers before the final bound version is distributed. Two items were deliberately withheld: a preservation section pulled for further review and the document cover, held pending the outcome of Framingham's April 4 charter election, which would determine whether the municipality's official name needed to change from town to city.
