Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of September 9, 2026

Framingham's Zoning Board of Appeals approved five zoning relief requests and continued an enforcement dispute at its September 9 meeting. The board unanimously granted a variance and special permit allowing a two-family home on a vacant, hourglass-shaped lot at 240 Beaver Street, after attorney Jack Herndon argued wetlands constraints created a "practical difficulty" under the state's newly revised variance standard adopted under the Healey-Driscoll administration. The board also approved special permits letting Scott Shapiro board up to three dogs at his 26A Street condo and letting 22-year pet-sitter Jan Slocum continue her Nob Hill Drive business despite a town violation letter.

"I really need the income," Slocum told the board. Separate findings allowed modest additions at 52 South Street and 51 Pincushion Road. Appeals from CSX Transportation and BP Trucking over a Hollis Street cease-and-desist order were continued to October 14.
