Framingham Planning Division Warns Of Fraudulent Emails, Payment Scams

Framingham is stepping back from automated license-plate reader cameras, joining a number of other communities that have dropped the controversial surveillance technology, according to Framingham Patch. Separately, the town's Planning Division warned residents and anyone doing business with the town to watch for fraudulent emails and payment scams.

Framingham's Planning Division issued a News Flash alert Aug. 5 warning residents, applicants and property owners to be on guard against fraudulent emails and payment scams connected to town business. The division urged anyone contacted about a payment tied to a permit, application or other town paperwork to verify the request directly with the office before sending money or personal information.
