The City of Framingham and Team Framingham announced Oct. 19 that five nonprofit organizations have been selected to benefit from fundraising by Team Framingham's 2027 Boston Marathon runners.
Seventeen organizations applied for the opportunity. A lottery held the evening of Oct. 19 identified the five that will receive support from the 27 runners chosen to represent Framingham in the Boston Marathon on Monday, April 19, 2027.
The selected organizations are Circle of Hope of Needham, which provides clothing, shoes, bedding and hygiene items to people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity, including through eight Framingham shelters and schools; the Layla Lynn Bober Memorial Foundation of Framingham, created in memory of a child who died in 2019 and which supports local programs for children and families; Leadership MetroWest of Framingham, which develops community leaders and regional connections; Jeff's Place of Framingham, located at 281 Pleasant Street, which offers grief support for children, teens, adults and families; and the MetroWest Nonprofit Network, based in Framingham, which connects nonprofits with resources and professional development.
Team Framingham congratulated the five selected organizations and thanked all 17 groups that applied.
The city said the response "reflects the breadth of nonprofit work that supports residents and strengthens communities throughout the region."
