Framingham Board of Health grants permanent variance letting a mini pig live as a household pet.
Board of Health · Meeting of August 11, 2026
Framingham Board of Health grants permanent variance letting a mini pig live as a household pet. The board voted 5-0 to reclassify Daisy, a roughly 50-pound Juliana pig belonging to Natasha Roush and Nathaniel Josselyn of 5 Edgebrook Road, as a household pet rather than a domestic animal, citing a supportive letter from City Councilor Michael P. Campbell and testimony that Daisy "lives indoors" and "enjoys socializing." The board also opened public comment on its first proposed fee increase since 2011, with a public hearing set for September 8.
Staff member Bill told the board fee revenue goes into the city's general fund, not a dedicated department account, prompting one member to say, "we really have no guarantee of seeing any tangible financial benefit from it." Staff also reported one mosquito trapped in the city tested positive for West Nile virus, prompting targeted spraying.
